I am proud.

Well...the Canadians won the big game, but the Americans sure put up a fight. Nobody....absolutely nobody thought the USA hockey team had a chance in these Olympics, especially with a young inexperienced team with only 3 players (not including Modano, Tkachuk, Chelios) returning from past Olympic games. The turning point came when they played the first game against the Canadiens in the preliminary round in which they suprised everybody (and made Canada poop their pants) when they beat them 5-3. There was hope in the air for the Americans. These guys are for real and they made Canadiens a nervous team. USA goaltender Ryan Miller played some of his best hockey right here in these olympics, in which he outplayed some of the greatest goaltenders of all time, and thats why he was named MVP of the tournament. 36 year-old defensman Brian Rafalski, one of the few veterans of this team went on a scoring rampage earlier this tournament and set the tone for this US team. Zach Parise really came into his own these games too, as he'll be the face of USA Olympic hockey for years to come. Jaime Langenbrunner did a phenominal job as a captian of the US team. Those were just a few highlights from what the Americans had accomplished these games. I was blessed in witnessing these moments. These Olympics left me more love & respect for the game of hockey. I'm proud to be a hockey fan, and more importantly, an American hockey fan. Maybe next time, when we have a more experienced team, then we can beat those Canucks. ;)

I just want to honor USA hockey GM Brian Burke for assembling this USA hockey team. He has an eye of a genius. Instead of putting the best players, he assembled this team with the right players, like fitting the right pieces in a puzzle. I know this is a hard time for him, in which his son, Brenden, was killed in a car crash right before these Olympic games, but he came inspired. I have a great respect for this man and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Again...Congrats to the both the Men's and Women's Canadian, USA, and Finland hockey teams for all earning medals. Now lets get back to the NHL season please.

True Love Is Forever...

I finished reading a book called "The Spinal Cord Perception" from one of my new favorite authors, Josh S. Porter. It was his debut novel from 2005, and as he decribes it as a "all guts, no glory" book. This fictional book basically revolves around the life of a substitute teacher named David Rivers, who is a depressed man and has hallucinations of this little black creature (called a Llapasllaly) he often sees that follows him around and destroys the people around him, but when he meets a fellow teacher and the girl of his dreams, in which they eventually fall in love with each other, despite all the choas that happens around him (and her). The little black creature still haunts his life, but it can't ruin the love he has for her. The ending is one of the craziest endings i've ever read, but its meaning behind it leaves a hope in the reader. Even though this book may make your stomach queezy, this book hits right to the heart of the reader, leaving a meaningful message that "True love does last forever". Its not the best novel per-say, since it is his first book, but in the end I think this story will leave a lasting memory, with Josh Porter's dark (and sometimes comedic) writing style.

Distractions....but good distractions.

Life: its full of distractions. Some things prevent you from simply just living life, and thats the problem with us and what we strive for, we always give in to these distractions. But are these Olympic games a distraction?

I know that this has been occupying most of my time lately, and it will probably continue that way until after the Olympics, but I strongly recommend watching a olympic hockey game. Trust me, you'll be on the edge of the seat the whole entire time watching it, unless its a lop-sided game of course. But anyways, do you remember the Miracle on Ice team of 1980? Some games are more than just "games". Thats what is so special about these olympics; they provide us with lasting memories, good or bad. Now tell me, would you call that simply a distraction? Thats what I thought. Oh...and go USA!

I probably shouldn't have done this, but with all the spare time (while procrastinating homework), I thought I should return my duties of being a blogger. I haven't done anything like this in 2 years, so I'm starting over. I will write about my thoughts daily and I will post some possible writings that influence me. I will post video's and images, and possibly more. So stay tuned.

Welcome to my world.

I will leave you with the band Fair and their video of "Disappearing World".
